Sick Baby

For a few weeks our house took a really dramatic turn when you started throwing up CONSTANTLY and EVERYWHERE. It was really the saddest thing I've ever seen, and quite miserable for all three of us. You obviously didn't feel up to par and Dad and I had to listen to you cry all day and all night. Worst ever.

See what I mean by everywhere? Gross I know, but I still can't figure out how you did that.

This was you after you rolled on top of one of your toys. Really dramatic.
I swear we took you to the doctor a million times to see what we could do for you. But they kept sending us away telling us it was just a bug and you would get over it soon. So annoying. But that was the one place you actually loved being, so I was fine taking you over and over again.

I'm sure the doctors hated me for letting you tear the place apart every time we went, but I say it's their fault for thinking you were healthy when you were always throwing up. Turns out you had major acid reflux and once we got you on medication you became your normal, happy self again and we've been in heaven ever since. Please don't ever get sick again, I can't handle it.
Love you Hudson

Easter Sunday

This Sunday was your very first Easter with us. While you're still too little to actually enjoy all the candy, egg hunts, and new Sunday outfits, it was really a special day to me. Being my first Easter as a parent I really thought a lot about the resurrection of Christ and what that means for us. I found this quote from President Monson that I absolutely love

"No words in Christendom mean more to me than those spoken by the angel to the weeping Mary Magdalene and the other Mary when, on the first day of the week, they approached the tomb to care for the body of their Lord. Spoke the angel: 'Why seek ye the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen.' "

I hope you always remember that Dad and I both have testimonies that Christ was resurrected so we can be too, and that he lives. We both love you so much and are trying our best to be the best parents and examples to you that we can be. We are so lucky that we got to have you with us for Easter this year, it was our best one yet.

One Half Of One Year

I may be a few weeks late, but it's still so hard for me to believe that it's already been 6 months since you were born and made dad and I the happiest two people on the planet.
The other night after we put you to bed we got a bit nostalgic talking about all the things we love about you and wishing you would really stop growing up
We love how you are so entranced by your hands. You hold them in front of your face and just stare for forever. We love watching you try to figure out how they, and everything else, works
We love how you hold your arms out every time you see us because you want us to pick you up.
We love how you immediately roll over to your side when we put you in your crib because that's the only position you'll sleep in, and when we go get you in the morning you're on the opposite side of your crib in the corner.
We love that when you wake up in the middle of the night we can hear you talk to yourself until you fall back asleep.
We love how every time you pick up your lion you smash it into your face and squeel because you're so happy
You seriously make every single day so much better and we couldn't love you more!

Dinosaur Museum

Just over a month ago we decided we needed a family date before I started training for work, since we wouldn't have much time with eachother for a while, so we went to the dinosaur museum! You are still too tiny to really think it's cool, but I think you still had fun.

We played in the caves and you and dad weighed yourselves to see what dinosaurs you were the closest to in size, and you played in the wet sandbox

Four months in review

You are four months old! For some reason this seams like a HUGE milestone to me. 1/3 of a year has gone by in the blink of an eye. Everyone always says "they grow up too fast" but you really don't believe it, and kind of hate the saying, until your newborn baby is rolling around the room, laughing, and sitting up! (even if it was only for 2 seconds)
I've been looking through the millions of pictures we've taken of you and it made me realize how much you've already changed and made me think of all the things you've already learned in 1/3 of a year... so this post is dedicated to our favorite things about you thus far. Get comfortable, you may be here a while.
  •  You have such a flirtatious smile! We can't help but smile and laugh every time you do because it is seriously the best thing ever. When I'm frustrated or overwhelmed or anything, all you have to do is smile and my heart is melted.
See what I mean??
  • You have so much determination, in other words, you are so stubborn! like father like son... Sometimes I get really frustrated that you're already so determined to get what you want, like when you wake up screaming in the middle of the night because you don't want to be on your stomach anymore, but you don't want to exert the energy to flip yourself back over. Or how you fight naptime so bad, and would rather sleep anywhere but your crib...

like on your playmat...

On Dad's lap...

The couch... on top of Grandma Darla...

Or when you're supposed to be eating...
You get the point. But I really do love that you already have such a strong personality characterstic. It makes me so excited to see what you will be like when you're older.

  • You're so smart already. I know everyone thinks their kids are so smart when they're really just doing normal things but trust me, you really are :) In fact, just now you gave us the perfect scenario. You've figured out that your binky is attached to a ribbon that you can pull on, so you always pull out your binky. Today you decided you would try putting it back in all by yourself.

You kept putting it in backwards, or only getting the side of it in your mouth, so you decided to try putting it on your blanket and rolling over.... but you missed

We laughed at you, so you laughed with us

Then you decided you would just suck on your hand instead

  • You are so strong. like superhero strong! Hence the reason you could roll over when you were four weeks old. Every time you lay on your stomach you go into superman mode. And look how well you hold yourself up!

  • Your laugh/squeal. Besides it being so cute, it's so contagious as well. Dad and I crack up every time we hear it. Maybe it's just because we're your parents? I don't know but I hope your laugh stays the same forever.
  • You are so talkative, and quite the performer. Every time you get even a smidgen of attention you take full advantage and would do anything to keep it. You would talk in your raspy voice all day to anyone willing to listen... again, like father like son. When you get really into your conversation you start blowing bubbles. It's the cutest. About a week ago we put up your jumper for the first time and you absolutely loved it. You were jumping and laughing and spinning in circles and having so much fun, until we stopped watching. Then you decided to throw a fit until we took you out.

  • You hold our hands while you eat. It may be such a small thing, but it really makes us so happy. And even though we both know you always do it, we still get so excited and whichever of us is feeding you will always point it out to the other.
I can't even tell you how much fun it has been having you in our little family the last four months. We love you more than we ever imagined was possible, and hope you will always remember that. You were the best surprise we could have ever asked for. Thank you for coming to our family and making our lives complete.
We love you Hudson, Love Mom & Dad

P.S. I just have to add a million more pictures
