Four months in review

You are four months old! For some reason this seams like a HUGE milestone to me. 1/3 of a year has gone by in the blink of an eye. Everyone always says "they grow up too fast" but you really don't believe it, and kind of hate the saying, until your newborn baby is rolling around the room, laughing, and sitting up! (even if it was only for 2 seconds)
I've been looking through the millions of pictures we've taken of you and it made me realize how much you've already changed and made me think of all the things you've already learned in 1/3 of a year... so this post is dedicated to our favorite things about you thus far. Get comfortable, you may be here a while.
  •  You have such a flirtatious smile! We can't help but smile and laugh every time you do because it is seriously the best thing ever. When I'm frustrated or overwhelmed or anything, all you have to do is smile and my heart is melted.
See what I mean??
  • You have so much determination, in other words, you are so stubborn! like father like son... Sometimes I get really frustrated that you're already so determined to get what you want, like when you wake up screaming in the middle of the night because you don't want to be on your stomach anymore, but you don't want to exert the energy to flip yourself back over. Or how you fight naptime so bad, and would rather sleep anywhere but your crib...

like on your playmat...

On Dad's lap...

The couch... on top of Grandma Darla...

Or when you're supposed to be eating...
You get the point. But I really do love that you already have such a strong personality characterstic. It makes me so excited to see what you will be like when you're older.

  • You're so smart already. I know everyone thinks their kids are so smart when they're really just doing normal things but trust me, you really are :) In fact, just now you gave us the perfect scenario. You've figured out that your binky is attached to a ribbon that you can pull on, so you always pull out your binky. Today you decided you would try putting it back in all by yourself.

You kept putting it in backwards, or only getting the side of it in your mouth, so you decided to try putting it on your blanket and rolling over.... but you missed

We laughed at you, so you laughed with us

Then you decided you would just suck on your hand instead

  • You are so strong. like superhero strong! Hence the reason you could roll over when you were four weeks old. Every time you lay on your stomach you go into superman mode. And look how well you hold yourself up!

  • Your laugh/squeal. Besides it being so cute, it's so contagious as well. Dad and I crack up every time we hear it. Maybe it's just because we're your parents? I don't know but I hope your laugh stays the same forever.
  • You are so talkative, and quite the performer. Every time you get even a smidgen of attention you take full advantage and would do anything to keep it. You would talk in your raspy voice all day to anyone willing to listen... again, like father like son. When you get really into your conversation you start blowing bubbles. It's the cutest. About a week ago we put up your jumper for the first time and you absolutely loved it. You were jumping and laughing and spinning in circles and having so much fun, until we stopped watching. Then you decided to throw a fit until we took you out.

  • You hold our hands while you eat. It may be such a small thing, but it really makes us so happy. And even though we both know you always do it, we still get so excited and whichever of us is feeding you will always point it out to the other.
I can't even tell you how much fun it has been having you in our little family the last four months. We love you more than we ever imagined was possible, and hope you will always remember that. You were the best surprise we could have ever asked for. Thank you for coming to our family and making our lives complete.
We love you Hudson, Love Mom & Dad

P.S. I just have to add a million more pictures

Dads Blessing Thoughts

Hudson your blessing will be one of the days I will remember for the rest of my life.  Son there is no better feeling than knowing that I was worthy to hold and bless you with the Priesthood.  As I look back on that day, it was wonderful because we were able to have most of our family on mine and your mothers sides there. Your mother and I love our families very much and love when we are able to share such a wonderful experience with them.  We were also lucky, with Christmas being in two days, to have a lot of our friends there to support you also.  There is nothing more important, Hudson, than having good friends and a wonderful family. You remember that.  As I look back and think about the blessing I know that our Heavenly Father helped me to say what I needed to say. With you in my arms and spiritual men around me, the spirit was very strong. To be completely honest, I was nervous and sweating pretty bad ha. Giving your first blessing isn't the easiest thing in the world. You are afraid you will forget how to start it or say something weird in the blessing or have some issue.  Luckily for me I was able to get through the blessing with no hiccups.  I remember having a hard time keeping from crying during the blessing because of how much I loved you and knowing what this blessing meant for you.  Then seeing your smiling face after the blessing ended was just so awesome.  I love your happy personality and what you do for your mom and I everyday.  Your baby blessing is just one step of many that we will be able to experience together and I am very excited for the future.

Love, Dad

'Tis the Season

This Christmas season was extra special because it was our first as our own little family. We have spent tons of time with extended family the past few weeks which has been so much fun. To kick off the holiday season we went to the Festival of Trees with Kyson & Tori's family, Grandma Darla, and Talisha & the girls. I got so many ideas for next years Christmas tree, I'm sure it's going to be just fabulous.

You also got to sit on Santa's lap for your very first time! You were completely expressionless, you had no idea what was going on. But you looked quite adorable if I do say so myself

We spent Christmas Eve at home and opened presents before going over to Grandma and Grandpa Goeckeritz's house for the day. You gave us the best Christmas present ever and slept in until ten!

When we got to Grandma & Grandpa's house, Grandpa took you and dad sledding, for your very first time,  in the field behind the tractor. Then we played in the snow with your cousins. You were such a good sport and even though it was freezing cold you didn't make a peep the entire time.

Christmas day was so much fun! As was the entire season. We got to have dad home with us for so many days, it was awesome! You're always so much happier when he's with us and we all have so much fun together! I already can't wait for next Christmas season!
Love you Hudson
