Family Outings

Before you were born Dad & I used to always go up Provo Canyon to Deer Creek and lay on blankets on the grass or in the back of his truck. We loved to just get away for the afternoon and be somewhere pretty. when you were a few weeks old we took you up there for a little family outing

It was such a beautiful day! You slept pretty much the whole time but it was still so much fun to be up there with all three of us

Since you were born in the fall we just had to take you to do some fall activities, so we went on another family outing to cornbelly's the day after Halloween. We went through the corn maze, played pumpkin checkers (dad won), and played on the rubber swings

They had these wooden playhouse things all over the place shaped like different things. I love them and really want dad to build one when you're old enough to play in them!

Once it started to really get cold here we went on a weekend away with Bowen, Kelly, and Cooper. We went to St. George to get away from the first snowstorm of the winter. The weather really wasn't that great down there either so we mostly just went shopping and hung out at the condo. The only thing we did outside was go walk around the temple grounds

We are so happy that we have you to take on our outings with us, it makes it so much fun! We love you Hudson!

Newborns

When we were finally home for good Grandma Darla and I took you to my friend from highschool, Courtney Casper, and had her take your newborn pictures. She did such a good job and you slept so great the entire time! These are some of our favorites...

You are just the cutest little newborn ever!

The Long Haul

On Thursday September 13 I went to the doctor for my 39 week check-up. I was literally praying that when I went they would tell me I was going to have you that day and I needed to go right on over to the hospital. I had been trying everything to get you to come, I even drank castor oil a few days earlier. When I got to the doctor my prayers were answered with sky-high blood pressure. They sent me right on over to the hospital to be induced. I called Dad to tell him the good news and he left work to come be with us. I was on cloud nine thinking that I was going to get to hold you that night. Little did I know we were in for the long haul.
After hours of tests I was finally induced at 2 p.m. 4 or 5 or maybe even 6 hours later the anesthesiologist came in to give me the epidural. I was getting anxious thinking you were going to come anytime. A few more hours went by and you still weren't here, the epidural was wearing off, and the contractions were coming hard. Needless to say, I was miserable. The hospital trip was not the exciting trip I was expecting at all. After a long long night and even longer morning the next day the doctor informed us that the only way you would come would be to have a c-section. Your head was starting to swell because you had been trying to come for so long. I was so distraught. I had been in labor for twenty hours and having a c-section felt like I was giving up. But since it meant having you, I had to do it. They took me in for surgery, and dad got to get all dressed up to come in with me.

Finally on Friday September 14, 2012 at 10:23 a.m. you were born! You weighed 7 pounds 11 ounces, and you were 19 inches long

Dad was the first one to hold you and took these pictures right after you were born. Since they had to give me really strong medicine for the surgery I didn't get to see you until 2 1/2 hours after you were born. I remember when I started waking up after the surgery you were in the nursery getting all cleaned up. I was so sad because I just wanted to hold my baby. When I finally got to hold you I was in heaven. Here are some more pictures from when you were first born.

You were just the cutest little newborn ever! You had so many visitors and everyone who saw you fell in love with you instantly!

Since Dad's birthday is the day after yours we were still in the hospital so some of his friends came to celebrate him turning 27 with us! We had pizza and watched football, of course. You loved watching football with dad though, that's all you guys did during the hospital stay. I'm afraid i'm going to be outnumbered when it comes to what we watch from now on.

You were alway so content just laying on his chest watching football. I guess he has the touch. Hudson, you have the best daddy in the whole world. The whole time we were in the hospital he changed all of your diapers and slept on a little couch that couldn't have been comfortable. He stayed with us the whole time we were in there, both times, and took such good care of us. He missed a lot of work so he could watch you during the day and was pretty much your only parent the first week and a half of your life because I was constrained to a hospital bed. I can already tell you guys are going to be best buds

Before We Knew

It has become kind of a tradition to go out to California to visit Toby and Tami the week after Christmas and spend New Years Eve with them. On this particular trip Tami was pregnant with cute little Presly so we made a little trip to the maternity store. I got curious and tried on the maternity belly to see what I would look like as a preggo. Dad took a picture to try and pretend like I really was...

A few weeks later I was feeling really sick. I told myself over and over again that there was no way I could be pregnant and refused to take the test, little did we know I actually was pregnant when we took that picture. When I finally took the test and saw the double pink lines I was scared out of my mind. I couldn't stop thinking about all the things that were going to change and worrying about how I was going to be as a parent, until we went to the doctor and you popped up on the screen

I was still so scared, but I instantly became so excited to get to know you, and even more excited when we found out you were a boy! I always wanted to have a boy first and had the name Hudson picked out since my first year of college

Having your name picked out so early made everything so much more real for us. We had so much fun thinking about all of the fun things we would do with you and couldn't wait for September to come
