On Thursday September 13 I went to the doctor for my 39 week check-up. I was literally praying that when I went they would tell me I was going to have you that day and I needed to go right on over to the hospital. I had been trying everything to get you to come, I even drank castor oil a few days earlier. When I got to the doctor my prayers were answered with sky-high blood pressure. They sent me right on over to the hospital to be induced. I called Dad to tell him the good news and he left work to come be with us. I was on cloud nine thinking that I was going to get to hold you that night. Little did I know we were in for the long haul.
After hours of tests I was finally induced at 2 p.m. 4 or 5 or maybe even 6 hours later the anesthesiologist came in to give me the epidural. I was getting anxious thinking you were going to come anytime. A few more hours went by and you still weren't here, the epidural was wearing off, and the contractions were coming hard. Needless to say, I was miserable. The hospital trip was not the exciting trip I was expecting at all. After a long long night and even longer morning the next day the doctor informed us that the only way you would come would be to have a c-section. Your head was starting to swell because you had been trying to come for so long. I was so distraught. I had been in labor for twenty hours and having a c-section felt like I was giving up. But since it meant having you, I had to do it. They took me in for surgery, and dad got to get all dressed up to come in with me.
Finally on Friday September 14, 2012 at 10:23 a.m. you were born! You weighed 7 pounds 11 ounces, and you were 19 inches long
Dad was the first one to hold you and took these pictures right after you were born. Since they had to give me really strong medicine for the surgery I didn't get to see you until 2 1/2 hours after you were born. I remember when I started waking up after the surgery you were in the nursery getting all cleaned up. I was so sad because I just wanted to hold my baby. When I finally got to hold you I was in heaven. Here are some more pictures from when you were first born.
You were just the cutest little newborn ever! You had so many visitors and everyone who saw you fell in love with you instantly!
Since Dad's birthday is the day after yours we were still in the hospital so some of his friends came to celebrate him turning 27 with us! We had pizza and watched football, of course. You loved watching football with dad though, that's all you guys did during the hospital stay. I'm afraid i'm going to be outnumbered when it comes to what we watch from now on.
You were alway so content just laying on his chest watching football. I guess he has the touch. Hudson, you have the best daddy in the whole world. The whole time we were in the hospital he changed all of your diapers and slept on a little couch that couldn't have been comfortable. He stayed with us the whole time we were in there, both times, and took such good care of us. He missed a lot of work so he could watch you during the day and was pretty much your only parent the first week and a half of your life because I was constrained to a hospital bed. I can already tell you guys are going to be best buds
